"You ask me if I can forgive myself?
I can forgive myself . . .
And so begins The Truth Is a Cave in the Black Mountains, a haunting story of family, the otherworld, and a search for hidden treasure. This gorgeous full-color illustrated book version was born of a unique collaboration between New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman and renowned artist Eddie Campbell, who brought to vivid life the characters and landscape of Gaiman's award-winning story. In this volume, the talents and vision of two great creative geniuses come together in a glorious explosion of color and shadow, memory and regret, vengeance and, ultimately, love.
. . . for many things. For where I left him.
For what I did." -taken from Goodreads

This is so hard to rate because it was such a strange story. The set up of this graphic novel looked almost like a children's book, although the content of the story and the pictures are definitely NOT for children.

The illustrations were very interesting and fitted very well with Gaiman's writing. There wasn't much colour nor much point to the story but thats okay, it was a quick, interesting read. I cant say it captivated me and I still feel like I am missing something with Gaiman's writing so therefore I wouldn't be in a massive hurry to go out and buy this for myself.

You should be warned though if you are interested in reading this book there then this is a trigger warning for abuse (and possible rape) but neither are really explored only for a few lines (on page 20). This does not hinder or help the story so you could just skip this page if this is something that affects you.
